Wurzburg Court Gardens

My husband and I visited the lovely Würzburg Court Gardens in Germany in March 2013. The Boroque style of the Court Gardens appealed to me. I was struck by the elegance of the formal gardens, and particularly liked the sculpted cedars, each with a statue situated under the canopy. There is a serenity here, all the more noticeable at the time of year we visited because there are fewer visitors than in late spring and summer. The annuals were just beginning to be planted, and the gardeners were busy watering the rose gardens during our visit. I would have enjoyed seeing the hedges in bloom, looking through the yellow flowers framing the archways and past the statues into the rich green hues along the covered paths.

I hope to return here another time. I’d like to explore the garden beyond the Court, and tour inside the Residence to see the renowned fresco above the broad stairway, and the art collections inside the baroque palace.

Würzburg is located in Southern Germany.
